Article 2
Africa 2007 by Cameron Ross
I would first like to thank everyone that supported me, both financially
and with your prayers, it was an amazing trip and I could
not have done it without you all. Africa is a very different
place than any I have ever been. The people and the culture
are so unique even from town to town and country to country.
Even the landscape changes rapidly as you travel.
I first traveled with my father in law to Nairobi. Kris spoke at a
pastors conference of about 250 people, some of which had
traveled as long as 4 days to hear him speak. The pastors
there are desperate for a move of God and were eager for any
knowledge on teaching or operating in the gifts of the Holy
Spirit.
Also while in Kenya we were able to visit an orphanage that was founded
and is supported by a businessman from Redding.
“Heroes of
the Nations” is an amazing orphanage. With close to 300
kids, they believe they are not just taking care of orphans
but are raising up the next heroes to govern the country
with kingdom values and kingdom Ideas.
After spending four days with the pastors and a few days with the
orphanage, we had a day to rest and see a little more of
Kenya. We traveled to a place called
Mt. Kenya Safari Club where we spent the night and
the next day, before heading to Rwanda.
Even though Rwanda is only a few 100 miles away from Kenya they are much
different. Twelve years ago the people of Rwanda endured a
bloody genocide that ravaged their people and in a matter of
60 days over 1,000,000, men, women, and children where
killed. This left their small country in total mourning. The
people of Rwanda struggle to find hope. There faces tell
stories of things I cannot imagine, things I have only heard
of. We ministered at another pastor’s conference in a town
on the border of Rwanda and the Congo. They where very happy
to see us. Iin a way we were ambassadors of hope. Not just
with the message of Jesus Christ, after all they were
pastors, but that someone out side their world new that they
were here and cared enough to come.
I have been changed forever from my trip to Africa and I am excited to
return someday. Thank you again for the part you played in
ministering to the people in Africa.
