Northern California,
For some time I have been convinced that there has been a
shift with regard to issues of time. I observed last year an
unusual phenomenon that increased as the year progressed. It
was of clocks and watches that had been stopped starting
again. This only helped underline for me that God was
informing us that what was on hold is being released. We
have stepped into a season where the 'clock' has started.
Many people have shared how they have felt this shift since
the beginning of 2007.
There were two questions that are posed - one to John the
Baptist, and one from John to Jesus - that I believe are
very relevant to the north coast. John, the forerunner and
preparer for Jesus, was asked if he was Elijah. In spite of
knowing that he indeed was Elijah, he actually denied this.
He saw his task as that of preparing the way and was not
interested in a title. Later he found himself in prison and
sent some disciples to ask Jesus if he was the one or if
they would look for another. It seems to me his question was
to help him understand if he had indeed prepared the way or
whether he needed to get out of prison and carry on with the
preparation.
In other words we have to determine if we are in the days
of preparation or in the days of fulfillment. (At one level
we are always living between both of those points, but we
need to know where we are on the spectrum.)
For Northern California and for Humboldt County I say:
you are not simply in the days of preparation
there is a movement that is here that is being released
there is the beginnings of a move of God outside the four
walls of the church - the harvest is not here in its
fullness, but there are first fruit signs that are now
manifesting. We are to respond with a loud 'tell John what
you see and what you hear'
expect evidence to begin to grow among the marginalized and
also at Humboldt State University
arts are to be a part of what is taking place - I believe
there will be a new art gallery / shop that will open for
Christian art
We will need to continue to prepare but we are not simply to
prepare, we must get ready to connect with the community
that we have been asking the Lord to pour out his Spirit on.
